MBBS · FRACP · FCSANZ · Adjunct Professor, Bond University
Senior Interventional Cardiologist delivering world-class cardiac care to the Gold Coast community for over 25 years — available 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Dr Shailesh Khatri is one of Australia's most accomplished senior interventional cardiologists. Originally from Fiji, he came to Australia in 1983 and earned his medical degree from the University of Queensland in 1990.
Cardiology training followed at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, Prince Charles Hospital and John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle. In 2001 he was awarded a prestigious Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at St. Paul's Hospital, Vancouver, Canada — under the direct mentorship of Professor John Webb, one of the world's foremost interventional cardiologists — completing over 1,200 procedures during his tenure.
Returning to the Gold Coast, Dr Khatri established what has become one of Australia's highest-volume interventional cardiology practices — having personally performed over 15,000 procedures. His 24/7 emergency service ensures the Gold Coast community has access to life-saving cardiac care at any hour.
He is an Adjunct Professor at Bond University and is actively involved in post-graduate cardiac education. Over 20 years ago, he pioneered the Primary PCI service at Tweed Hospital, extending emergency cardiac care to uninsured patients from NSW's Northern Rivers region — a legacy that continues to save lives today.
